What other hobbies besides gardening do you have? I like a lot of things..LOL...reading, painting, crochet, running, geocaching, hiking, camping, scrapbooking. That's what I do mainly. Besides wasting time on the internet. ;)

Crocheting, knitting, embroidering (by hand), reading, listening to music, painting, cooking, visiting gardening forums and other forums on the internet, hanging out with my DH and working on different projects with him around here.

Below is a picture of an coverlet I've been working on for our bed. It is made from yarn from my late MIL's stash that I inherited and from an elderly friend of ours who know longer crochets. Each row is a different stitch from the last row. I've made this about three or four times and enjoy making it each time. I've got about 10 more rows to crochet on this one and may add a few more just to make it larger.

Ooh really nice! I love the middle part of it too! I'll have to find some of the ones I've done.

Mistiaggie ~ This pattern is so neat because it starts in the round pattern and goes square. I've still got other yarn and want to make another on, not sure how yet.

I'd love to see some of your work. Have you done any filet crochet? I love using the fine thread size 30.

Wow - you folks have some pretty big lists! Besides gardening, reading about gardening, talking about gardening and thinking about gardening, I also quilt, make jewelry, and work on finishing my mosaic wall. I love to read and usually have 2 or 3 books going at once. Photography started out as just a tool to enhance my GardenWeb habit but it has turned into a hobby too.

This is one of my favorite quilts. DH loves Hawaiian shirts so I made this quilt for him for our 25th anniversary.

Jewelry - Turquoise&Pearls, Black Onyx, Tiny Ruby & Sapphire beads, Carved Bone leaves with little pearls.

And I also make little purses. Sewing with leather is fun once you find the right needles! Between jobs in 2003 I actually did the craft fair circuit around Florida, selling these bags. Then I found a job and had to quit doing it. Didn't make much money after fees and travel costs, but it was a lot of fun and kept me busy for 4 months. And I still have the tent! (It came in handy during the plant swap when it started to rain.)

Oh my gosh Solstice ~ What beautiful work you do!!! You inspire me with all that you do. I want to do some shell work in the fall/winter months. We have an old cast iron bath tub in our secret garden, behind the house, too big for our cottage bathroom. I want to glue shells to the outside. Saw one in a book recently and it was beautiful.

Gardening is really my favorite hobby. Like you also, photography has become a hobby for me too.

Come on fellow gardeners. Let's see some of your other hobbies.

Wow, y'all have some nice stuff! Yep, photography has been a hobby also now. I'd love to get a nice digital SLR one day! Solstice you should check out etsy.com. It's a place to sell stuff like that! :)

When I lived up north I sewed all the time and taught beginners. There is no time now that we own a business. Who's idea was that to move to FL and open a motorcycle shop? What was I thinking?!!

Motorcycle shop? Marion, if you have a need for any clothing items (vests, purses, whatever) for your shop, let me know. I have a lot of leather left over from when I was doing the purses. Maybe I could make something you could sell in the shop.
Send me an email if you are interested.

Mistiagge ~ Very nice blankets. It looks like your feline friend is really enjoying the one, she really goes nicely with the colors of blanket too. How much larger did your round one turn out? I'm still working on mine, did a little last night until I got too hot with the thing draped across my lap and legs.

I also want to get a SLR digital camera one of these days.

It was huge! Covered a full size bed really well!

Oh, what creative goddeses you all are!

I write (not enough lately), read (Science Fiction, Horror, Classic Lit, Poetry, Fantasy...I'm more interested in the quaility of the author than in the genre or subject), camp, hike, back pack (I like about everything better in a beautiful, natural setting), and cook.
I'm a part of a large group that met though a history club, or though role playing games, and we still throw 4 to 6 costumed theme parties a year...I generally set the theme, help brainstorm, and cook. My best friend is a sewing goddess, so she does the most outstanding costuming. We also do at least one Science Fiction Convention a year, with costuming and alchohol. Usually it's Necronomicon.
I'm a proffesional student. My major is Anthropology, and I'm into most anything in the Anth or Cultural field. Especially if it relates to pre-industrial agriculture, gender roles, or the Maya. LOVE the Maya.
I do like EverQuest II, and alllll of the Civilization games, which might be why I haven't been writing very much lately.

    And I never get bored...:)

Ya'll put me to shame. I have gotten hooked on silly computer games, zuma, astropop, and scrabble are my favorites today. I also quilt (but not recently) I will have to dig out pics of past work. I got into making three fabric pillowcases for gifts last year. Made a cool t-shirt quilt from Boyscout T-shirts for my son. And like most of ya'll I love gardening talking about it and reading about it too!

My goodness but yáll are really talented!!!

I used to sculpt but now only do iconography painting. Am try to learn how to make handmade silk flowers - I figured if I can't grow them down here (like poppies, lilacs, etc.) I'll make them :).

Wow, you all are very talented. Your work is beautiful. Does anybody sleep?

Most of my spare time is spent trying to keep up with my dogs - 4 very active terriers. Two of them are pet therapy dogs.

Then gardening takes up a lot of my time. Now that it's cooler, I'll actually enjoy it.

As time permits, I watercolor, and make greeting cards with rubber stamps.

I used spend a lot of time on photography and hope to do more with that. Lately, I've been spending time organizing old photos of my extended family.

Wert9wert, how did you get interested in iconography painting?

    Lynne

A couple of gourds I cut and painted and burned with a wood burning tool

Awesome gourds! Worthy of the blue ribbon! Congrats!

Hey Lynne, I'm Byzantine Catholic so it comes natural I guess :~). I used to sculpt including bas relief works. Also did some pastels, pen and ink, and watercolors. Used to enter (and won *smile* ) local art exhibits. Also studied under a few reknown sculptors. Finally decided that iconography was the purpose of my gifts.

For those who don't know what iconography is - it's a visual expression of Christian faith in color that began in the first century. You can google Greek or Russian or Byzantine iconography to see some.

Wert ~ I would love to see some of your iconography.

Lynne ~ I'd love to see some of your watercolors also. Keeping up with 4 active dogs and gardening definitely keep you busy. I have painted in watercolors too, but just haven't had the time, or been in the mood lately. Too many other things going on. Let's see some of your cards too.

Hopeful ~ I just LOVE the gourd in green of mother and babe. That just touches my heart. Your work is beautiful.

Great hobbies ~ Let's see some more.
