Any species of spruce.

Never tried this one, so can't say what it tastes like.

Here is a link that might be useful: Wikipedia: Spruce beer

"A number of flavors are associated with spruce-flavored beverages, ranging from floral, citrusy, and fruity to cola-like flavors to resinous and piney."

I think I'll stick with plain old hops-brewed beer. This sounds like a beer of last resort, similar to coffee made from Kentucky Coffee Tree. Better than nothing, but not much...

Pineresin: "Any species of spruce"

According to the name, the best spruce for this purpose should be Picea breweriana!

;-)

Hi desperados...I remember when looking up on Picea sitchensis 'Papoose' that a lady said she bought four of them because her husband likes to brew beer with them...
Next thing will be Pine wine or maybe fir lemonade!.T.

Here in Quebec, it's made of Black Spruce (Picea mariana) and it's a delicious beverage.

What's the brand or is it a draft pub brew?

Thanks,

Dax

Alaskan Brewing "Winter Ale" has been available for many years. They use the "tender new growth of spruce trees", no species listed. Nice beer, can't say I can easily pick-up the spruce flavoring.
