squirrel control advise needed.

Hello everyone,

Do any of you have birdfeeders in your garden and have had to deal with squirrels? Can you relate what deterrants worked best for you?

I've been cottage gardening for years but only recently installed a birdfeeder and a new pond. I noticed that the feeder, a long tube with feeding holes on the side, was greatly depleted of seeds and whatever the creature was, it accessed the seeds from the top by removing the cap. I suspect this was a squirrel as opposed to a raccoon which is larger and heavier and would have brought the feeder crashing down. So I've been visiting wildbird supplier websites to check what products work best such as hooks and feeders and protective dome covers. These aren't cheap and so before I dive in, I would appreciate receiving any advise on what works best.

I will also try posing the same question in the pest forum but I thought I'd check with fellow cottage gardeners as well. Thanks in advance

Ianna
