Good work! So, why was there gravel under the soil?

Sorry, that was a really silly post. I was just so excited that I was able to enlarge the bed so easily. I was surprised to find gravel in that spot, but apparently many years ago a railroad spur line went right through our yard. Hence I have areas with very gravelly soil, and the rest heavy clay. I do like the idea of just putting a lot of compost etc. on top of clay, but that increases the height of the bed, and wasn't an option in that spot. I have been in the habit of just removing the compacted clay from that particular bed as it used to be a driveway. I now have fairly good soil in that bed. It is a shade garden.

I will probably just put a ground cover in front of the bleeding heart, as it is huge. I will also be able to move forward the struggling variegated brunnera. It's a good spot for coleus also.
