I thought I had a photo of Kochia scoparia trichophylla Burning Bush in the fall time, but I don't, it does turn a fiery red, real nice contrast with the fall trees.

But anyways, here is a photo of it in the summer which has bright green foliage and looks like evergreens, eh. Very easy to start from seed (indoors or WS) and easy to grow, nothing required except lots of sunshine. Once established, it is very drought tolerant. Great filler plant and looks great in pots too.

Be careful though, cut it back or pull the whole plant out when it starts to seed, it can quickly establish itself as a major weed. Usually the frost kills the plant before it self-seeds.

It's a good plant for filling in space... we've used it as a backdrop in large raised wooden containers

Be aware, however, that it's considerd a noxious weed in some jurisdictions. As mentioned above, don't let it seed. We've never had any issues with it but in northern gardens at lower altitudes and later hard frost dates, it might be best to avoid it.

They are usually readily available as bedding plants at the nurseries here in the spring .
I grew it one year and it was a very nice background plant. But, I obviously waited too long to pull it out and next year I had it sprouting between every interlocking brick in my sidewalk.
That concerned me enough to avoid planting it again. I haven't actually heard of anyone around here having a problem with it though.
