Finishing compost, when to quit adding...

When should I stop adding new stuff to my compost bins if I want to have what's already in there finished & emptied out by October? As much as it pains me to toss compostables in the garbage, I really can't see the husband letting me pack and move 'unfinished' compost to the new place... ;)

Any thoughts?

It all depends how fast your pile is cooking....if you devotedly make sure your compost is moist and aerated regularly, it can be cured in as short as 2-3 months.

2 - 3 months brings us to about September (yikes) so I thought I'd stop adding now. Let me say, quitting smoking was easier!!! LOL
