I made a note to myself last year to try this. Now I don't remember where I read about it, but the idea is to cut back emerging perennials so that they won't grow so tall and unwieldy. Of course only certain perennials would be candidates for this treatment. I wanted to try it on monkshood and delphinium. My monkshood always grow enormously tall and then crash down in the wind and rain.

Now that the time has come, I'm scared to do it. I don't want to sacrifice a whole season of bloom! I'm wondering if anyone here has tried doing this. Marie
