Looks like false spirea to me At one time a lot of farm yards had them. Hardy but tend to get very scruffy looking .Not one of my favourite shrubs. I think there are better smaller varietys available now.

Thank you @beegood, yes, I think you're right on it being an older false spirea. I also see a small shrub planted in another bed here, that I think is a newer cultivar 'Sem'. I'll be watching them this season. Thx for your help.
