This is the first year I wintersowed Rudbeckia hirta ÂGloriosa DaisyÂ, I didn't realize the leaves get that big! I planted it somewhere it the garden or holding bed, I will have to go look for it now ;)

Also does it act as an annual or perennial for you?

I just realized you spell yours 'Glorious Daisy', is this the same as 'Gloriosa Daisy'?

My favourite is Rudbeckia hirta 'Indian Summer', should be putting on a show soon ;)

No the leaves are usually about a 10th of the size you see here... Like I said only because it got TOO much moisture gallons of it... Its a perennial for me.. Seeds came from the NHGC as a trial.. Gloriosa sorry guess I spelled it wrong... Oops !! Spelling doesn't count, does it..

They are beautiful... I found mine in the holding bed, hopefully they will bloom for me this year so I know what colours I have.

Actually some Rudbeckia hirta get to be very large plants. The leaves on some plants will get huge. I have had plants 5 1/2 feet tall. These came from a package that also had shorter ones...2 to 3 feet. Also the spread on some of them can be A good 5 feet as well. They are actually a biennial that you may get 3 or 4 years from. They will self-seed readily if you let them.

I added a few more to my garden this spring that I started from seed. And there are still some self-seeders from the plants I started with 8 or 9 years ago. They are late bloomers so give them time to see if they will bloom this year for you are not...if not they should next year.

Hey, kat...that wasn't a spelling mistake. It was either a Freudian slip (those are glorious leaves, after all), or you merely translated the Latin botanical name into English. Either way, it works. ;-) I hope it blooms for you, with flowers as large as the leaves.
