Very nice. I love poppies and planted about 10 different ones this year. I should say seeded The big big red ones that self seeded last year are blooming. I will take pictures and if any one wants seeds I should have plenty. Ordered the seeds from the poppy shoppe.

How long are poppy seeds viable for? I sent 2007 Danish Flag seeds to a friend this year and she said they didn't grow. I haven't planted any myself for awhile and I'm scared I've lost the strain if they're no good...

poppy seeds are viable for quite a long time. I have last years Danish Flags that self seeded blooming already. If you had your own collected seeds did you stratify them? They are a very pretty poppy and if you need more seeds I will have some.

Northspruce: I wintersowed mine and they come up readily. Have you tried that?

I like these poppies because they come in so many different colors and shapes. Right now I have them in scarlett, cherry red, white, pink, singles and doubles. I think they also last longer than the others. Mine have been flowering since the beginning of June. I first planted 3 plants. I liked them so much I planted 2 more plants along a row. The row is now about 6' long. When they flower it is a spectacular sight. Everyone that has seen them has remarked about how beautiful they were. They are nearly over now and I am going to be collecting seeds. If anyone wants some, let me know. Marg

Well I guess when I plant poppies I either direct sow the in the fall or the very early spring and I always have lots. I don't like to transplant them. My friend planted them in May (Niagara peninsula) so perhaps it was too warm already. I'll tell her if she has any left to chuck them in in the fall! Thanx. :0)
