Killer frost last night

Did you cover up or have you had loses? I lost my tomato plant good thing I picked most of them a few days ago. Hope your loses are not too bad.

No frost here yet. But I'd better get busy on bringing in some of my tender stuff.

Yes, yesterday, I had seen that temps in your region were struggling badly, though am surprised to hear of frost :( ... here it was nowhere close to freezing and hope that Jack stays away for a long time yet and well into October, as he did last year ... one can only hope!

I'm with you Terry! I need at least another month to just catch up! Everyone seems to be predicting an early winter?? Guess I should get on my horse and get moving. :)

Our long range forecast doesn't show any low night temperatures either. We've been pretty lucky this year, so far, anyway.

I have been covering here, south west of Calgary, Black Diamond, for three weeks now. Still have late beans, zucs and cucs, tomatoes are in an unheated GH. I need to get at least another 2 weeks (would be nice). Oh the challenges of gardening on the prairies. Cheryl

I don't think we have to worry yet. Indian Summer is on the way. Leaves are still very green here. I still have tomatoes ripening and the forecast is for a warming up week ahead. :)

The lowest nighttime temp this month has been 3c -- and no frost so far. Cindy, just how far north of GP are you? I'm in Peace River

Nothing close to frost here, we've rarely been below +10 at nights. My problem is the lack of rain. I haven't ordered any fall perennials or even done any of the transplanting I need to do, because it's so darn dry.

I am 20 min north of GP and risk of frost warning again for tonight although I don't think it will be as cold as last week. I just checked the temp for Aug 31 it was -0.7 only supposed to be 4 tonight but 2 on Tuesday. Let's hope the weatherman is wrong.

Looks like a real mixed bag of conditions to come with lows dropping right down there ... so, looks as if this region might not be enjoying an extended long frost free growing season as in recent years ... enjoy your prudy flowers while you can and hope the forecast will shift in our favor.
