Debbie, I tried agapanthus from seed two winters ago. Most of the seed did germinate, but I lost them all due to spider mites. From what I could tell in the month or so that I did have them, they seemed to be pretty slow growing. I would think it would take a few years for them to get to the blooming stage, so it all depends on how much patience you have........

Hi Debbie, I've never tried Agapanthus from seed. Although I've always wanted to order a rhizome from Botanus, I bet they would look great in a container? What do you do with the mother plant over winter?

I'm complicating on ordering one next year now after Googling some photos. Do you have any photos of your plant to show us?

Hi Sharon. Sorry,I don't have a pic. I do have my agapanthus in a container. I left it in the basement to go dormant until early March then brought it up to a sunny window and started watering again. I've heard that you can get two blooming periods(early spring and late summer)if you keep it going all winter so this year I will try that. Even after they finish blooming the stalks and seed heads are quite attractive so they give a long season of interest. Debbie.
