You'll have a problem with resale value. Other than that, it should be fun for an architect to design.

I readily sympathize with this. I want a home that has 2 master suites and 2 more bedrooms (to be used as 2 offices) that have a jack 'n jill bath.
Have the architect design it so when you want to sell you can just close up the access from one of the bedrooms. This needs to be designed so that the bedroom that no longer has access to the master still has access to another bathroom.

A show house for Custom Home magazine did a dual master jack & Jill by putting a hot tub and shower with the additions of an outside door for guests to enter directly. One had an additional standard tub shower. This met the criteria the appraiser was looking for.

Is it incorrect to say 2 masters, or is that just my pet peeve? Secondary bedrooms can be as grand as the architect makes them, but there is still one master.

How do you identify the master when it's a resort property meant to be owned by two couples and each "master" bedroom is identical?

I'd probably say "east suite" and "west suite" or whatever directions could identify the rooms rather than calling either or both master bedroom.

Shall we ask the person who put the question to us? Are we entering one room that has two separate sleeping areas, but one master bath? Before I got my C-pap machine my snoring had me sleeping in another room. I've had clients who each wanted a separate but equal master bath. I've also had a situation that required for medical reason two sleeping areas were necessary as well as some special medical equipment in the master bath.

I stayed in a home one time that had three "masters". The house was built by three families and it was shared as a vacation property among these three families. The masters were identical, all with a bathroom included. The only difference was one had a fireplace, otherwise they were the same. They all shared one central hall and each had a view of the mountains. There were three additional small bedrooms in the house, for a total of six bedrooms. I thought it worked out nicely.
