Syreeta that must be so frustrating! It looks really pretty on the tag. I saw people talking about this same thing on the daylily forum today and they seem to think it's cool nights that's doing it. I think you've said the nights have been cool there didn't you? Well I hope they smarten up for you!!

Thanks for the link. I had briefly checked the daylily forum earlier and didn't see anything. I guess I didn't look late/far enough to find it. The cold nights do make sense, although it is odd as other people in town have their daylilies blooming properly. You would think that if theirs bloomed so would mine and vise versa. Do you think they would bloom if I tried cutting off the stems and bringing them in the house? Something to try tomorrow.

I'm sure it depends on the cultivar. If it was every single daylily that did this, we would hear more about it for sure! None of mine have had this trouble but I planted 6 new ones recently so hopefully none of these fall into that category.

I would definitely try bringing a scape in. What's the worst that can happen? I'm imagining you having to put Kozy Koats on your daylilies in August - haha sorry that's mean but funny. :)

Syreeta.....I am wondering if they may have dried out at some point after the buds started to form......or if they may have got to much water. I've had that happen for the first year or two when I planted some of my daylilies but they seem to have stopped doing that since I put soaker hoses down. Of course this year I haven't had to use the soakers much. My daylilies are all full of buds or blooms, except for the strawberry candy...it bloomed last year but not even a bud on it this year.....Hmmm :( I have another strawberry candy in the garden on the other side...I will have to check that one....today.

I was at a nursery Thursday and saw a daylily blooming..it was so pretty.......I even considered buying it....but I didn't. DH pointed out last evening that I have that one.......it opened its first bloom. Haha. Good thing I didn't buy another. LOL.
