What to do with my crazy anemone??

Yes and I do say crazy! Can you believe that my one and only surviving anemone de Caen is STILL hanging on? It's survived frost and snow and keeps on going and going and going...... LOL

I had planned on digging up the bulb (or corm or whatever it is) and overwintering them in my basement storage room. The plan WAS that it would die back from the frost/snow, etc, and then I would dig it up. Well, it is STILL looking strong and healthy OUTSIDE! I am starting to wonder if I should just leave it in the ground and see what happens? Give it some extra protection of some sort? Or could I dig it up yet after some deeper freezes? Would the ground get too frozen by then?

Ang, why don't you dig it up and pot it...it will die back fairly quickly once you bring it inside.

I have mixed anemones that I plant in pots.....I just bring the pots inside in the fall...when the greens die back....I chop them off and just leave the pot sit there till next spring sometime....

Strangely enough, I have had Anemone coronaria winter over a couple of times, but they've never had the "strength" again to bloom after wintering.

Great idea Sierra! I'll be doing that this afternoon seeing as we are having a nice warm spell today and I can't wait to get out there and enjoy it.

Thanks for the info ABgardeneer. Interesting to note that it did survive the winters!
