That does look nice and those blooms are so large! I think I'll also try a rose standard using 'Hansa' for the stem and rootstock.

I have seen that the root stalk will send out shoots probably because it is more vigorous than cultivar that is grafted on top, this was carragana's, so one would be pruning those off to keep it the way you want it. I've only had one patio rose and it did not try to grow from the bottom or send out branches, I don't know what the root stalk and stem were. The rose was Intrigue, not sure about the spelling.
