Four Season Vegetable Gardening

Late Start in Zone 9

I'm finally finding some time to get some gardening in, but now I'm afraid it's too late to plant anything besides garlic and lettuce in my Zone 9 garden. Is it too late to plant potatoes? Is there a winter squash that I'm not too late for? What could I plant at this late date in Zone 9?

I just put in some broccoli and cauliflower last week. Not sure how they will do.

Thanks for the reply. I went ahead and planted strawberries, lettuce, broccoli and garlic over the weekend. I found out that potatoes are planted in January around here so I was glad to hear I didn't miss that train. I also tucked some pansies and violas into a few corners of the garden beds just for some winter color in the vegetable garden. We had record high temps over the weekend (78 degrees!) so perhaps that will help ease them into their new homes.

This is good info as I just worked up a 50'x20' plot to put in a garden and was wondering what to plant. Gonna work in some mulch/chicken house compost and go from there.
