is this a fushia?

this was growing in ditch out in the wild here in the woods.it gets little bean like pods with red/orange seeds in it.has theses tubular flowers.seems to have a big root thinggy then tap roots out.has a few greenish leaves but seems when stalk blossoms out leaves fade off.gets some green thinggys where flowers were guessing those eventually turn into seed pod.

someone mentioned desert rose but not anything like the picture.then someone said fushia...but said was over 100 varieties

Hi there Njoynit,
It could be a fuchsia, I can't really tell from your photo as it's not very clear. There are several species fuchsias which are native to Mexico, which of course is 'next-door' to you. Winds and birds do of course carry seeds.
There's a chance it could be f.lyciodes,(native to Chile) which lives in dry conditions and is only pollinated by humming birds. If you ever see this plant again could you take a closer photo. BTW at the moment with all the species and cultivars there are approximately 10,000 different fuchsias. Kath:)
