I have seen the upside-down pots, but I'm not sure that fuchsia are the best candidate for them.

The trailing fuchsia that I've grown in handing baskets have all trailed nicely; in other words, they haven't curled up or around to get more light. For this reason, I think you'd do better with plants that like more direct sun.

If you do try fuchsia in these pots, however, let me know how they turn out -- if they work with fuchsia, I wouldnÂt be opposed to getting some myself.

I too have an upside pot. I received as a gift. I was wondering what would work well in it. Any ideas, besides fuchsias?

Actually fuchsias can be grown in the upside down pot, although there are other plants better suited such as begonias, impatiens, lobelia, herbs like thyme, sage, prostrate rosemary and lavender. When the pot is hung "upside down", the plants actually do rise up the sides of the pot before beginning to cascade. Have you ever discovered a pot fallen on its side in the garden with the plant growing at a 45 degree angle toward the sun, it's the same premise. When you plant the pot, give it time to develop a good root system before you turn it over, so you don't lose soil. Two or three weeks should do it. Since you have two pots, I hope you'll try planting them similarly and hang them nearby one another, like on either side of your patio. They should be stunning. Let us know.
