Hello, I raised a standard from the fuchsia 'Swingtime' over the last two years. It is about 3 feet tall and it's time to move it from the growing bench at the side of the hosue to the deck. The growing beches are on the east side of my house, shaded by tall trees until about 2pm, full sun after that until sunset. My deck is facing south, and receives full sun. Don't worry I won't put the standard where it will receive the full dose of sun and heat. But my question is, how much sun can Swingtime handle as a standard. What would be an optimal place for it. It doesn't seem to be one of the finicky varieties, but after all the work I put into raising it I want to it off to its full potential... :-) The standard is in a larger pot, underplanted with sky blue lobelias and a trailing fuchsia 'Dainty'. I live in Indianapolis, zone 5, our highest temps in summer reach 90 something degrees Fahrenheit. I would be interested in your experiences with placing standards.
