I live in West Yorks UK and I prune my various F. magellanica very hard back to within 8 to 9 inches of soil level. I wouldn't suggest that you do it now though, wait until mid March. The 'wind rock' that the plants are suffering at the moment is probaly better than the risk of die back that could occur as the plants this year still have the sap high in the branches.

They will grow about 4 ft plus if pruned hard, if you want a good variety try and get hold of 'Hawkshead' a brilliant cultivar with similar hardiness and will make a similar amount of growth but is more interesting than the F.mag varieties.

I like the white flowers, but not sure so much about the green-tipped sepals. I'm not too keen on greenish flowers. But it might go nicely WITH my other fuchsia. I'll keep an eye out for it, thanks.
