Great improvement in the first one! All are really nice blooms.

SG 221 R4 really has a beautiful orange eye! Such a show off with the magenta petals. Lovely! LSB005 is a winner for sure... I love the two tones of lavender on the edges. SG317TR also has a very unique eyezone! I bet that one will just keep getting more beautiful.

Is that the diamond dusting on Gma's Smile x Something Sup that I can see...? Wholy Moley if it is....

SG 024 TR is stunning - love the frilly white edges!

You've done a fantastic job creating lovely seedlings!

Question: How many seedlings do you cull each year?

Mona, wait until she increases some. I think she is a beauty and going to get better. That was a FFO.

    Thank you Okbt!

Michelle, how did I miss that diamond dusting. Wow, I will have to get a close up of that. Come back to this thread this afternoo ( later ) and we'll look. You have some very good comments...

Julie, I like that one too. It has a strange ripple look to the edge. As for culling, I don't do that until after the bloom. I flag some with orang flags that I am sure I want to keep and watch. There are lots that I am not sure of so I just transplant them to the seedling patch. I can say, I cull out at least half the first bloom. If it's a yucky color and doesn't appeal to me, then to the woods it goes.. I have right now blooming about 300 and I probably have 50 or 60 that have scapes but hasn't bloomed. Don't bother crossing S. royal price x Margaret McWhorter...most are dogs.. Hehehe!!

Thank you all for your comments...Ellie

Yep Michelle, she's a beauty alright. I have been so busy with the seedlings, I almost neglect the other beauties. Thanks again...

Lrae, I think you are to easy on me but I appreciate it. You haven't seen the ones I think are dogs yet. You know they must be pretty bad. Thank you! Ellie

Wow, Ellie, we've come a long way from "Doody Pants"! The difference in the first one is incredible. I love the color contrast between the throat and the self. I don't remember seeing that color combination in another daylily, have you? The form reminds me of Azure Violets, but with a prettier colored self.

My favorite is probably the pink seedling SGR1. It looks perfect. Is it a dip?

Honorable Mention goes to SG01R3 and the last one, LSB.

My favorite group of seedlings so far!

LOL I forgot about Doody Pants, you have some nice ones. I love the bi-tone one best.

Oh, my! They are all keepers. What fun you must be having. I also loved next to the last one. If you ever get tired of it, let it walk one state north to TN! Thanks for keeping our dreams alive of growing great seedlings.

Thanks Chris. I am not sure if SG R1 is a dip or a tet since it's one where the markers were washed off. She behaves like a tet. Strong sturdy stalks and the flower is thick and almost waxy but, she has a resemblance to Bonnie Pink Ruffles which is a dip. I don't cross to many dips anymore in fact, I didn't cross any last year. They were all tets. LSB is probably an Ed Brown kid but I don't know the cross again. I will probably find it when I transplant because they are so thick in that bed, I can't get in to my markers. So anything that is LSB can probably be found..

Jill, I still have the runner up for thr Doody Pants award ( that went to Jan ). The one I have is Brown Trowsers and it's still in my garden. I have several nice bi-tones this year but time will tell about them. I just found one of the spiders I have is a bi-tone or she seems to be to me. If Photobucket straightens up so I can use it, I will post it.

Well Ann, sometimes they get better but them sometimes the change so much it's discouraging. If that one just stays as it is, I will be happy. This is it's first year so I don't know how it will be. Thanks bunches..

Thanks Ladies for your encouragement!!! Ellie
