The USDA rejected the American Horticultural Society 2003 draft map; the agency has stated it is creating its own internal map.

It seems the USDA is taking a long time updating it's map.

Canada's newest map 2000 is based on changes from their 1967 map. These changes are from 1967 to 1990. So we are almost 20 years behind.

I've decided to forget the zone thingy and garden using common sense and my own experience.

Whoa, if I'm reading that right, I'm a zone 9, not an 8. I have been noticing that some tropical annuals are living over for me now, but I attributed that to the fact that I live in the city and have a south-facing patio that is positively hot! But maybe there's more to it than that.

Sheesh.
