Early Alaska can get two feet tall or slightly more. I don't use any supports on them but they do fall over even when planted in double rows. I prefer the shorter vined Willet Wonder smooth seeded English peas, but Alaska is good.

Are they sweet? I am too lazy to order seeds. Ihave to chech the nurseries around here. Pikes usually have better selection than the rest around here.

Smooth seed peas are not as tender and tasty as good wrinkled seeded peas. Their advantage is that they stand more cold. I usually plant these in late November and overwinter. I start wrinkled seeded peas in early February. I get Alaska or Willet wonder about two weeks earlier than Dakota, my earliest wrinkled seeded.
