I have a neighbor who grows some winter vegetables, starting around November 1st.

I grow my greens in winter and I've read you can grow carrots and onions overwinter in Georgia. Haven't tried carrots or onions yet though. I have mustards and collards growing happily in containers right now. Had to cover them with a sheet for two days last week, but they're doing fine now. I'm 20 miles east of Atlanta.

I grow onions successfully in the pots that hold begonias in the summer. Great to nip out on the deck and snip a few onion tops to mix in scrambled eggs, etc. I tried beans but the rabbits liked them more than I did!

I live in Atlanta, and I garden all winter.
Right now I have a variety of lettuces in. When the weather was cold last week I picked a lot, but a sheet over the raised bed saved the rest. I look for lettuces which say "do best in cool weather" etc.
