You have roses blooming outside?
Nothing is blooming in my yard yet, not even the jonquils. This is the year I hope some of my young trees begin fruiting.

I have my autumn flowering cherry, and hellebores (one has been blooming for over a month). The ragged robin, an early penstamon, and early daffs are in full bud now.

I have a couple of roses still blooming, too, just a few stragglers - climbing pinkie and work of art. I have a clematis still blooming, but again it's just a stray blossom or two on a vine in a protected area. I've seen forsythia blooming already, of course, although I don't have any in my own yard. And I've seen some in-ground paperwhites blooming. In our community garden last weekend we had beautiful yellow blossoms all over the broccoli raab (didn't get it picked in time, obviously) and they were covered in honeybees. Also the honeybees were visiting pea blossoms on some sugar snap peas, and on lots of purple henbit weed flowers.

Rose hips are still bright red and looking very nice, as are many of the spent hydrangea flowers on a protected side of the house. When I raked up a huge pile of oak leaves a couple of weeks ago I discovered underneath a large purple lantana plant still in full bloom, but now that it's been exposed to the weather it's died back. I thought that was pretty interesting, that it could be in full growth and bloom with no sun whatsoever during probably the last couple of months, because I had allowed the leaves to blow and pile up there since they began falling.

All of my spring bulbs have lots of leaves up but no flowers yet. I'm hoping they stay right where they are in case we get more cold weather. I get tired of everything blooming and then getting frozen, which seems to have happened the last couple of years.

I was out checking for blooms today. The climbing aster put out 3 or 4 more blooms this week. So it's been blooming off and on since October. The daphne buds are opening. I think at least one of them will be blooming by next week. The daffodils are up, but look like they won't bloom for a couple of weeks. The hellebores look like they'll start in the next week too. The camellia still has a couple of blooms. I think it's about to finish for the year. So odd to have blooms in January.

In the greenhouse (I know this isn't what you're asking for, but I keep the temps only just above freezing out there..):

Thanksgiving Cacti - They were very late this year. One is in full bloom right now and the others are finishing up.

Plectranthus - Has been blooming for months now.

Oxalis Triangularis - Just noticed this was blooming today.

Jasmine - Thought this one was "Maid of New Orleans" but it's not and I don't have a clue what it is.

Eyeball Plant - Strange annual that I only know the common name of.

Outside:

Pansies

Hellebores - Only one has opened so far, but loads of buds everywhere!

Sasanqua Camellia - Not sure of the name but it's a deep double pink.

Loropetalum - The big one with the green (not burgandy) leaves.

I don't have a forsythia, but I've seen quite a few of those in full bloom. I was thinking earlier today how nice it is to see so many things blooming in January.

camillia has been blooming since the beginning of December. and a couple of mums are still blooming. Lots of things sprouting new growth, but that's about it.

Camellia japonica, last flower on a c. sasanqua, hellebores, the x hybridus ones and also a h.niger just showing buds above ground. Edgeworthia, the downward pointing white flowerheads are starting to turn yellow and point outwards. One little sprig of white creeping phlox, a bright red dianthus, which never really stopped flowering, a low growing rosemary. One Tommy crocus so far too!

Camellia of course, pansies, violas. My edgeworthia and daphne are getting ready to bloom any day now. Wild violets, a cultivar of honeysuckle but I can't remember what kind. I have some kind of early daffodil on a south-facing sloped rock garden that's blooming already, yay! And the red flowering quinces are busting out in bright red blooms. One other thing... some fall lettuce I never picked is flowering. Oops!

Here in the "Other Georgia" -- a warmer zone than metro Atlanta, there are:
Taiwan Cherries
'Leonard Messel' magnolia
Flowering Quince (Chaenomeles)
Pansies
Loropetalum both white and pink
Some Hyacinths outside are showing buds, forced bulbs have already bloomed inside.
Floribunda rose 'Gene Boerner' never knew when frost came.
One brave little Muscari armeniacum has color in the buds.
Snapdragons have gone dormant after I deadheaded.
Camellia japonicas are showing color; Mathotiana has open blooms, albeit frost touched.

Scads of camellias, the Osame(sp?)Cherry is showing color in it's buds and the Tea Olive. Tea Olive doesn't make a show, but the scent is everywhere! Purple Lantana has a few blooms. I don't know if it's the last of the season or the first of the new year. Some kind of viburnum is just barely beginning and Nandina still has red berries as does the Pyrocantha.

Believe it or not, I have 2-3 Black-Eyed Susans blooming! Apparently I have a little microclimate in an island in the backyard.

-They're a little straggly & are leaning a bit after that wind we had recently.

GGG, what variety of roses do u have blooming? Ours are green but that's about it. ...Iris leaves emerging.

Interesting that so much is blooming in January. I have a pretty open spot I guess. I took a cursory look and I've got only the usual suspects. Pansies of course; loropetalum, tea olive actually started to bloom; daphne, crocus (the "egg-yolk" kind), one hellebore bud about to open.. Several roses got ready to bloom at the last warm spell around New Year's, and then got zapped. There's a lot of new growth and buds on a couple of roses, cramoisi superieur has flowers.

Lots of dichondra and chickweed - yech!

Alas I don't have much blooming now but the daffodils should be wonderful in a few weeks; However, Rosie's comment made me think that early blooming winter weeds should be eliminated before they set seed.

Hairy bitterness is a common one and I thought I'd remind you what it looks like so you can pull it out when it's still small.

I was driving though Decatur today and saw the most amazing forsythis. It was a real ray of sunshine on a cloudy afternoon!

Have a great swathe of white narcissi..windowboxfull of yellow pansies, pansies in pots and flower beds, pyrocantha full of bright red berries, likewise nandina, daphne in full bloom, white, red, white/pink dianthus, orangey-red mum, tea olive,pink perfection camellias. Redbud tree swathed in pink mist. Am fearful of all this warm weather which is bringing stuff out too soon.

Maybe you all know this already - I brought in some twigs of star magnolia, which doesn't flower until February, to put in a vase with some camellias, just for the spikey effect, and they are now flowering. Took maybe 5 days.

I see daffodils blooming at our neighbor's yard.

Isn't it a warm winter? Don't they normally open in Feb/March?

i counted 10 different types of plants this past weekend that are flowering in the yarden and none are annuals except pansies!
a couple that i have which have not been mentioned are
winter honeysuckle (lonicera fragrantissima) and mahonia bealii, both of which have good fragrance.
don't you love the fragrance of daphne odora and tea olive right now!

Not a darn thing until this morning lol. I had been reading this post & was jealous of everyone's blossoms. This morning I found my 'Georgia Blue' Veronica sporting two tiny crystal blue blooms (hopefully the first of many). I was a bit surprised this beat out my Forsythias, carpet phlox & spring bulbs.
