Since our winter has been extremely mild, my amaryllis leaves just wilted down last week. Today I dug them all up and divided all the bulblets from the mother bulbs. They haven't been separated in 3 1/2 years and have multiplied from 17 to 131 plantable bulbs. I intend to leave them under the house (in dry straw and dim light) until danger of heavy frost is gone (probably early Mar). I planted the smallest bulblets in soil. Have I seriously jeopardized my amaryllis or do you think they will survive and continue to bloom and propagate? If this was the wrong thing to do, should I replant the bulbs immediately?
