Thanks so much! I'd been unable to find a source and this will make all the difference! Yes, gardening in Georgia vs. Oregon is so different. The soil is more acidic, lacking in iron, and there are many more bugs here. But, I can grow late season tomatoes - so who cares if it's a little harder to get the garden ready. If spring ever comes this year, I'm ready!

I just fulled huge chunks of weeds from my island beds this morning. It is so warm out.

I visited local nursury (woody's on hwy 120) and he told me that he will build me a raised bed (he mentioned 20 feet gardening technique).

I haven't worked with soil but have been ammending the soil in the area where I plant. After joining gardenweb, I have come to learn that this is worse possible technique to ammend soil...LOL.

I wrote e-mail to county extention and got a prompt e-mail back. He advised me to get free compost from dekalb compost pile near memorial drive. Though I would need a truck and someone to shovel it in the truck.

So far now I will experiement with raised bed.

BTW grapes grow great here. I will post some pics.

I never ordered mushroom compost from Luxury Landscapes, but we have gotten dirt and stone from them. Nice people. The people seem knowledgeable. Will def. be getting stone from them this year! Let me know what you think of their compost.
