I've been waiting for that to happen actually. I had not heard it would, just expecting it.
It is very hard for somewhere like a large chain like that to branch out and become more alternative in what they stock in a garden center. Plus many of the growers are asking the larger places like HD to put in big orders so that they know what they need to grow. So if you don't want to place a large order, they won't take your order. So it may just be a hassle.
However, that makes way for some of the smaller garden centers to do well!

It's also becoming difficult for small nurseries and landscapers to order plants in the quantities they normally require. Some of the growers that used to ship small quantities by common carrier, no longer do so and have started delivering with their own trucks. That means a large minimum order, delivered when their trucks are scheduled for your area. I contacted 4 growers to obtain a small quanity (100) of flowering sized Helleborus cultivars and 3 of the 4 had minimum order requirements of at least twice that number, one required an order of 1800 plants. The 4th one would ship what I needed, but they wouldn't be ready until July 1st, which was 5 months too late.
You are right, GGG, it is becoming a hassle, a huge one!
