Parent company being bought......

I just saw an article in the paper about NBC buying iVillage. GardenWeb is mentioned. The article says that iVillage calls itself "the internet for women". Something I didn't realize, but makes sense now considering some of the ads they have here. It says the price is some 600 million! I don't know what this will mean for GardenWeb, but maybe it will be a step in the right direction. Like fewer popups(full page ones especially) or no more popups! I hope this is good news, but you never know!

Check out the Suggestions and Comments Forum. They have been discussing this for quite a while. My thought is that NBC is so big, that they aren't really going to make changes. I think it's just going to go along as it has.

Well I guess you can tell I never visit that forum. I got excited when I saw it, thinking maybe it will mean a change in policy about submitted content. I love GW, but I am not at all happy about iVillage claiming ownership of any picture I might post. I don't post them anymore because of that policy.

I can only imagine that if it is not making them money it will only get worse. Why keep a service that's not profitable?
