'Wargrave Pink' is usually listed as a variety of G. endressii or G. x oxonianum, but in any case, I'm fairly certain that neither this, or G. sanguineum, offer much in the way of fragrance. The one I think of from what you describe, is G. macrorrhizum.

Thank you, Coolpants, you are dead on, and I have never heard this name. I am now getting into Geraniums for my shady area and have quite a few seedlings of two varieties I grew from seed, but I do not want to duplicate this one because it is getting to be a bit of a thug in my gardens. I will plant out my Sanguineums and my Wargrave Pinks.

Northerner, if you don't want geranium "thugs" in your garden, keep a close eye on your sanguineums. They are vigorous and the roots spread underground.

I see you have warned me aginst Sanguineums. Are they as invasive as G. macrorrhizum? The reason I ask is that I have several seedlings of sangiuneum to plant out in the next few days and I certainly don't want to have to be ripping out as I have for the G. macrorrhizum. The first plant grew quite slowly because it was not in the best position or soil, but others took over in a matter of 2 years. And it looks so horrible after bloom.

No problems. There was a time when I may have worn "cool pants", if white jeans can be considered such. LOL

In any case, I like to use G. maccrorhizum and its forms as a groundcover in dry shade. They do self-sow, but sometimes that's what one wants!

I've used a couple of varieties of G. sanguineum in full sun situations, and I found that they only spread very slowly by either self-sowing and/or by the roots. It's possible that some forms are more "aggressive" than others, although relative to some other perennials, I still wouldn't consider this one to be aggressive. It does propagate by root cuttings however, so removal from a spot in the garden can be difficult at best.
