I have seen 3 old fashioned lilacs bloom in north east Ga. There were very few blossoms on the bushes and they got a lot of mildew. They smell wonderful. I grew up as a child with lilacs in central NY and miss them. I have tried the southern lilacs but they don't have the right fragrance.

If you find one that smells good and blooms well let me know.

Still a bit cold here up north in Pa. Don't feel bad you guys, you have Palm trees, Live oaks and Crape Myrtles. Get yourself some Lilac infused potpourri oil. Our Lilacs nicely scented blooms are only around a couple weeks. You are still better off in the end.

If you like Lilacs then "Mrs. Kim" is the one that does best here In Marietta Ga Zone 7b I have 3 of them and right now they are about to put on their show and much fragrance. Very easy to care for and the rewards are many you will not be disappointed

i have had a couple of lilac trees fir about three years now. They do not grow much, and until this year they have never produced flowers. Maybe it was the cold winter we had, but the lilac blooms were wonderful this year and the the perfume out of this world!
