I figured I had a few more days for the planting date ended. I normally plant them in February but the bitter cold and rain has just got me so behind.
I planted them today just before our next round of showers. We'll probably be wishing the rain was back when the summer gets here!

I planted mine last night!

We planted ours Sunday. So hope they do okay!!

This year we've had cold JAN, FEB and MAR.
Last year about this time my potatoes had poked out.
I figure I am two weeks behind last year. When a two day frost
hit us on/around APR 10,09 my potatoes were about 3-4" high
and I covered them and they survived.This year ground is still too cold.

I agree with you Cyrus, we've just had an extremely long period of frigid temperatures these last few months. Add in the weather also bringing so much rain, there's just been no time to plant anything. It will be interesting to see what our potatoes do if these conditions persist a while longer.
Mother Nature is quite unpredictable!
I hope it can dry out so the farmer's can prepare their fields for planting. I can only imagine how frustrating it must be for them.

I'm so relieved to read this thread. My potatoes are cut sitting on the back steps, but this is the first dry chance I've had to dig the bed and plant them! Glad I'm not the only one!

I've had mine outside in containers for weeks now. I keep peeking at them -- today is the first day I've seen a little sprout! So I guess it didn't matter if we got them out early or not!

We are growing them for fun with the kids -- a huge crop of adult sized potatoes isn't critical for us (luckily.) And I like the teeny ones anyway! :)

With butter, parsley, and crumbled bacon.... yum!
