I saw redbuds just starting to bloom today and they looked like tree silhouettes suspended in purple haze. Perhaps Jimi Hendrix was looking at them when he came up with the title for his song .... In a few days the flowers will be bigger and that effect will be gone.

My spicebushes (Lindera benzoin) are also blooming ... cheery little dots of yellow all along the branches. Let's hope the male and females get together and make some berries for the birds!
