Will they come back?

That big freeze we had knocked back ALL the beautiful new foliage of many of my trees. The sad thing was they had almost fully leafed out.:( I lost Magnolia 'Butterflies', Stewartia sinensis, Stewartia rostrata, Styrax japonica 'Pink Chimes' and 'Carillion', Robinia psuedoacacia 'Frisia', Cersis sinensis 'Avondale', Michelia maudiae, Magnolia zenii, Magnolia soulangeana 'Caerhay's Belle, Acer japonica, a HUGE Magnolia denudata, and any other nonnative wonderful tree I possess. I am absolutely heart-broken! I look everyday for signs of new leaves, and so far, nothing. Has this happened to any of you before? And the big question-- is will they recover?

It's only april 19. Give it some time. I have some trees that haven't leafed out yet this season.

Magnolia denudata is hardy to Zone 5, (some propose Z4) and it is one of the parents of M. x 'Butterflies' and the M. x soulangiana cultivars. It is also one of the parents of M. x 'Elizabeth', which was 99% defoliated in my garden. Only one of my five, M. x soulangiana was affected and it was located near 'Elizabeth'. I'm sure that all will recover within the next few weeks.
A number of my Hydrangeas lost their foliage for the second time this season, but they too, will recover.
No herbaceous perennials, ferns, Azaleas or Camellias were affected. Had some leaf burn on a few Kousa Dogwoods, but they are starting to bloom, so no severe damage.
Only time and some rainfall (Please!) is necessary.

It hasn't been long enough. Give them a few weeks longer. Those in plenty of sun will come out before those that are shaded.
