Do blown glass bulbs work?

I am thinking of getting a bunch of the blown glass bulbs (use to store water for potted plants) for my mom for MOther's Day. Just wondering if any of you have good experiences with them. Otherwise, I was thinking of making some PVC ones... The glass ones are nice.

Also, have you seen good reasonable ones anywhere? I saw them while on vacation & they were about $15-$19 a piece.

I'm not sure how they work, but Pike's Nursery may have them for 40% off of $12.99....At least the store in Town Lake (Woostock) does.

thanks, sharon. i was at pikes a couple of days ago & saw them. but they weren't 40%... bummer!

If you can find olas, they work even better! Olas are small clay vessles burried in the soil, filled with water and slowly release the water in to the ground. They remain cooler than the glass bulbs.
