If you look around, you can now get some really convincing light weight imitation terra cotta pots. They are not cheap, but worth it when it comes to moving them. I don't know whether fuchsias get particularly rootbound - I think I'd be more worried about them surviving the hot humid Georgia summers - have you found a particular one that is reputed to be able to take it?

I have no advice about the pot, but I have had fuschias that survive all summer in partial shade on my deck. They bloom continously and look happy. I think it should do okay.

You know, Big Lots actually had decent looking large foam pots this year. Not too expensive, and looked OK in the store. No idea about how they'd look after a summer!

Thanks. I have no idea where a Big Lots is. If there is one in my neighborhood I haven't seen it. Just so happens your the 2nd person today who has mentioned them though.

I can't help you with fuschia because I've always managed to kill them pretty quickly. What I use for drainage in the bottom of heavy pots is pine cones. The work great, they're light-weight, and best of all they're free. Yes, they will break down eventually, but usually by the time they do, it's time to re-pot anyway.
