NOOOO!!! I'm not ready for them!!
I haven't seen any, but I guess that I need to check my trees at lunch.

I noticed last year that they tend to stay away from the scent of other dead JBs. So I'm going to capture some, squish them and put them in some netting and make a little baggie. Then I'm going to hang them in my trees. I know it sounds crazy, but I got the idea from someone on here that made a JB "soup"...(dead beetles in a bucket of water that sat in the sun for several hours)

haven't seen any yet in east cent. alabama.
hand-picking is my approach. knock them into a container of soapy water and wait for them to drown.
i guess my thinking is that, since they are already here to stay, i might as well try to kill as many as possible that come to my yard without actually actracting them with pheromone lures.
have not heard that about repelling them with dead ones but always looking at options!
roses are their preferred food of choice in my garden but i do find some on my japanese maples in sunny locations. they don't seem to venture far into the (sparse)woods to feed where most of my maples are.

I'll tell you what. If everyone chips in $10, I will leave my windows open and then that way all the JB's in the world will fly inside my house and leave everyone else alone. This seems to work pretty well for flies and moths.

You know I have been thinking they should be here any day now since they aways come when my sundrops are at their peak (now) and then eat them all. I am wondering if that bit of cool weather we had slowed them up a little. I think everything is out of whack as usually about now I am geting buds on my crepe myrtles but I don't have them yet either.

THEY ARE HERE!!

I went home for lunch and I found several already eating my trees. I took a bamboo stick (that I use for staking) and I swung it at them. They got mad at me and started dive-bombing into my hair (which sends me screaming)...I really hate those things!!

So Efam, did you keep any to make bug soup?

I can vouch for the fact that four-o-clocks, which are supposed to be poisonous to them, do not work worth a darn. I had a bunch of four-o-clocks last year, and a bunch of japanese beetles. They may have died later, but by then all the blooms were in shreds.
