I have a president clematis. I planted it at my mailbox a few years ago. then I planted liriope grass around it. my husband accidentally cut it back to the ground twice so this is the first year its gotten a full years growth. It still kind of looks pitiful and alot of the buds are hardening and dying before they bloom - I'd say 1 in 4 actually bloom.

What can I do to help it grow?
