I have to share--BJ's has HUGE (3-4 gallon) containers of Patriot hostas and also several colors and types of hydrangea including lacecaps,for only $10 !!!! I bought several; the root system looks great,also!

I usually have salvia every year, and have had different varieties of the blue colors. They need to be deadheaded to promote the new blooms. You can usually tell when the old blooms start drying out to a brown color or falling off when the weather gets really hot. I think you will know when to do it, just by the look of the bloom. When they thrive, it is a couple or times a week or more chore.

Dee there are many varieties some very hardy, some not at all. What variety did you get?

I got Victoria Blue. Please tell me what you know about it. I love the leaves as well as the color of the flower. The leaves don't seem as woody as some of the others.

The blue one is Blue Anise Sage/salvia guaranatica. I think I tried this once and that it promptly died. The pineapple is salvia elegans. I had that for years. It did so well that last fall I separated it into three large groups. Never came back! :-(
Upon checking, the "tangerine" has a label that does not match sign at store. Says fruit sage/salvia dorisiana. Definitely has that orangy scent though.
And I have had some salvia greggi/red sage for years, my oldest.
An impulse buy this spring was Hot Lips, what a cute salvia!
