If the pot is big enough, it's possible to divide them. I recently bought a one gallon and was able to get two nice plants out of it, which are thriving.

Thought you might like to know there is also a varigated variety (Salvia elegans 'Golden Delicious' PPAF aka Golden Pineapple Sage) whose leaves are solid yellow. It's a very striking combo of color in the fall.

It can be bought online at Plants Delights, and I've also found it at Hastings Nursery. I planted mine in a location that is protected from the hot afternoon sun and it's done great, it came back from last year.

Another nice thing about this plant is you can take cuttings and easily root them in water.

I agree that they root easily. I've given away a number of rooted cuttings. It has been one of our favorite plants. It's a beautiful plant.
