Wondering this myself - would love to grow it but think the humidity might be so good. I've also wondered about Cornus nuttalli - Western Dogwood.

Well, I looked the plant up in Armitage's plant manual. It doesn't like heat or humidity so it's a "no-go"!!

All reports that I have heard about Cornus nuttalli is that it does poorly in the Southeast US.

Check out the Thompson Mills website with the species establishment and survival information. It gives some interesting information about the survival rates of native as well as exotic species. Cornus nuttalli is not listed, although there are several other cornus species.
