I have a single plant of Artemisia ÂSouthernwood that I planted in the fall of '03. It did great last year. It has spread to about 4'x 5' wide and about 24" tall so far this year. I trimmed it up a bit this spring. It is quite heat resistant and attractive IMO.

Here's a picture from May 12 this year. It contrasts nicely with Euphorbia dulcis 'Chameleon'.

That's a lovely contrast. I've never seen Southernwood available locally (Atlanta). Do you have a source?

I got this one at Gardensmith a couple of years ago. I haven't really looked for it since. One goes quite a long way.

Thanks, cahenry, for the information and the lovely picture--very useful, since I had not planned on the plants growing so wide. I will adjust my planting accordingly. Davidcf, I got my plants at Thyme After Thyme near Athens, nearer to Winterville. If you are interested, call first, since I'm not sure they have any more. It's a shame that Gardensmith is no longer in business--they had such an interesting selection and made a nice addition to our area stalwarts Goodness Grows and Thyme After Thyme.

Southernwood grows great for me, and it roots like crazy in mid spring. All you have to do is leave a cutting in a glass of water.

cahenry, your chameleon lived? How do you have it planted? Mine croaked but I really want another. I think maybe I gave it too much love: manure rich, moist soil (maybe too moist??) It went so fast!! The rest of the euphorbias are fine! Do tell, I NEED another, lol! I really like it with the Southernwood, nice combo.
