lindagail, are you using Firefox for your browser? If not, then you should consider downloading it from mozilla.com. Once you have that, add the free extra AdBlock "add-on". Wonderful! I haven't had an ad or a video for months.

Yes, Linda, switch to Firefox. It works great. I switched years ago and have never had a problem again! Plus I love the browser.

Remove flash player from your computer. You'll miss out on you tube videos but also miss out on all the bandwidth hoarding animated ads. I've lived without flash for years, you can too

You can also click the "skip" spot which turns it off fast.

I guess I'm going to have to become a techno-geek, after all. I've been too long just trying to take the easy way out. One time long ago when Firefox first came out I tried to download it and wasn't successful. I'll try again.

Firefox alone won't solve the problem since what youre complaining about are animated flash ads. One nice thing about firefox is it gives you the option to block all images that don't originate on the same server as the website. That winds up keeping pretty much all of the ads from showing up. Unfortuntately it also prevents images that people post to the forum such as photobucket and imageshack photos since they are on another server. I wish there was a switch to toggle back and forth.

I use firefox, Noton Antivirus, Spyware Blaster and Spybot Search and Destroy. I never have a problem. All free except for the Norton.

Great but what to they do to prevent animated ads and unwanted flash videos? Nothing. Norton is antivirus software, spybot s&d is to remove spyware and firefox is an ok, albeit very overrated browser.
