My cat kills a rodent almost everyday-usually a chipmunk or a mole. He's the sweetest murderer I've ever met:-) Cats (especially a cat that was stray or homeless for a while) are great for keeping rodent populations at bay...

Our Toby has always been a good hunter but she has gotten old and creaky in the joints. Often now she seems content to watch the critters run around in the yard. Occasionally she will still catch one and present it to us. Yesterday I found a chipmunk hole in some daffodils- the bulbs were even exposed. No wonder they didn't bloom well. I've got to find some way to discourage the things.

You know, I just thought about how I use a castor oil mix to get rid of the moles in my garden when my cat has been lazy. I did a 'Google search' and found this gardenweb link where someone says that they successfully deter chipmunks with castor oil also.

Heavens! Something is up this year! We need chipmunk birth control in my yard. Many folks I know have said the same thing. We have already had two litters (?) of chipmunk babies. Adorable. So far, not destroying anything, but we have a TON of them! The other day I was sitting at the table, and saw a hawk fly through and snap one up off the stone wall. My neighbor's cat brings dead ones to her all the time. Seems like we have enough predators..... But it's interesting how many we have this year.
