confederate jasmine dies back

I'm wondering if I may have stumbled on a confederate jasmine vine that is not winter-hardy here in GA. My vine grows well and finally covers my arbor by the end of each summer only to die back to 1 foot tall each winter. I have to cut and pull dead vines every year (3 years now). My mother's vine stays looking great year-round just 2 miles away. Any help out there?

I wish I had your confederate jasmine. In four years mine hasn't grown as much as yours does in one season. What's your secret?

Could your mother's vine be in a more sheltered spot?

Her surrounding bushes are taller than mine but I have my vine in the warmest spot at the sunny corner of my house. It's in a raised bed that has "good" soil in it (not red clay that the rest of the yard has to contend with). Everything I put there looks so good that it finally convinced my non-gardening husband that he DOES need to help me haul in soil amendments before we plant things. Good luck gardening in this desert we are experiencing!
