It's been a long time since I grew fall crops so I hope my memory serves me well. Winter squash is called that because it has a hard shell like a pumpkin and will store on into the winter but it should have been planted in April. For fall you can grow leafy and root crops and probably start sowing in mid or late August or September when days are still warm but nights are a bit cooler? Sow crops like: Onions, lettuce, turnips, radish, collards, mustard greens, cabbage, kohlrabi, broccoli , brussel sprouts, snow peas, carrots, Chinese cabbage, chard, and maybe even potatoes.
