In one of my california native plant books it said you could do the same thing with their species of elderberry. I've always wanted to try that. I imagine battering them and frying them, you wouldn't taste much of the flowers, but i'd bet it would be tasty regardless.

I'd rather leave the berries for the birds to eat.

Yes, well, I don't really see myself trying it. Just found it curious. Currently my opinion is that they can keep the elderberries and the blackberries, and I'll keep paying 5 bucks a bag for grapes from the grocery store.

Poor things. No wonder they eat worms.
