The furniture has to stay, the carpet is wall to wall, 600 square feet. The pine floors are not
present in the living room, it is only carpet. I was leaning towards a silver gray wood, and paint the rust
coloured walls out. Any ideas are greatly appreciated!

is the furniture gray or pink? It looks pink - perhaps just the lighting. Are you keeping the carpeting?

The furniture is brown and has to stay. I can do the flooring and paint for now.
Do not want to go with carpet, would like a neutral interesting floor with large area rugs..
The furniture I would like is in the future, for now would like to remove flooring and paint a little.
The carpet is my Waterloo!

If you are using hardwoods and an area rug, I would look for an area rug with brown in it and some of the blue from your decorative accessories I saw in the background (unless you are doing away with them.) Try looking on Targets website -they have a tremendous selection and sometimes better selection than in the store. Capel makes carpet and they have a website. Some places have carpet stores that specialize in area rugs. I would choose a area rug before I painted b/c you might want to pull a color from it for the paint color. I would not buy an area rug as plain as your circle rug.

I am going with a hardwood, castel oak. I can get a good deal and will spend the savings from this
on an area rug with some colour in it. I will post after project is finished but please keep sending any input you would like to share.
