Sweet Woodruff

We find Sweet Woodruff recommended as a shaded ground cover, thick-growing and almost invasive, which suits our need.

Available descriptions do not seem to include any information on its general winter appearance, which is of moderate importance in our application. Surely it's not "evergreen" and the foliage looks "tender", but we'd like to know something specific about this aspect. Our English ivy naturally looks miserable in winter. Can we expect something similar or does SW foliage die completely back/down in winter? (On our slope that might create an erosion problem unless the roots are dense.)

Thankful for any comment.
